BROWN NAMED SOCON'S BADEN WOMEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

[Feb-7-2006]

Katasha Brown
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Southern Conference named Chattanooga’s Katasha Brown as the Baden SoCon Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played between January 31-February 6. It is the second Baden Player of the Week honor for Brown in the 2005-06 season.

In Chattanooga’s two victories last week, Brown averaged 20.5 points and four rebounds per game to help lead the Lady Mocs to at least a share of their seventh consecutive league crown.

Brown led all scorers in both games, netting 22 points in a win over Appalachian State that was televised by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast and 19 points in Chattanooga’s road victory over Davidson.

The Tazewell, Tenn., native is averaging more than 16 points per game against SoCon foes and 14 points per game in all contests. The Preseason Baden SoCon Player of the Year shot better than 60 percent from the field and beyond the arc last week, including sinking eight 3-pointers in the two wins to end last week with 199 career 3-pointers.

The Lady Mocs will host the SoCon tournament defending champion Western Carolina Catamounts Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Roundhouse.
