TAYLOR UNIVERSITY-FORT WAYNE WINS 2006 USCAA MEN'S DIVISION II BASKETBALL TITLE

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE - A balanced scoring attack from the second-seeded Taylor University-Fort Wayne squad lifted them to the 2006 United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Men's National Championship with a 74-68 victory over fifth-seeded UC-Clermont in Saturday's finals.

Kevin Woods paced the victors with 17 points leading four in double figures for TUFW. Virgil Akers added 15 points while Andrew Johnson and Rich Thomas added 14 each.

TUFW shot 49.1% from the field (26-of-53) and was a blistering 17-of-19 from the foul line. UC-Clermont was topped by Stefan Dunn with 23 points, while Maurice Brown added 16 and Troy Girty scored 13.
