Baden® new Perfection® Football will be in play for the 7th annual Myrle Greathouse Big Country FCA All-Star Classic football game in Abilene, TX. The 7th annual game, featuring graduating seniors from Big Country football teams, will be held June 3 at Shotwell Stadium. All proceeds from the game and banquet go to the Big Country chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Stan Howard of Breckenridge and Brent Brevard of Ballinger have been selected as head coaches for the 2006 Myrle Greathouse Big Country FCA All-Star Classic football game. Howard and Brevard will head up the five-man coaching staffs for the teams, which will be announced in February. The coaching staffs and players will also be honored at the All-Star Classic Banquet on March 26 at the Abilene Civic Center. Howard completed his first year as head coach at Breckenridge, leading the Buckaroos to a district championship and a trip the Class 3A area round of the playoffs. As a head coach, he has compiled a 41-14 record and has reached the playoffs in four of his five years as head coach. Brevard, a former standout as a player at Ballinger, just completed his first year as head coach of his alma mater. Prior to becoming head coach of the Bearcats, he was an assistant under Randy Allen at Abilene Cooper and Highland Park high schools. Helping this year‘s head coaches will be staffs made up of head coaches from eight Big Country programs. They include:
NORTH
Head Coach Stan Howard of Breckenridge, who is 41-14 in five years as head coach, including 8-4 and an area finalist in 2005 in his first year at the helm of the Buckaroos.
Buddy Hardin of Hawley, who led the Bearcats to their first playoff appearance in school history in his first season as head coach.
Gary Roan of Stamford, a six-time district coach of the year and four-time Big Country coach of the year.
Bryan Webb of Baird, who lead the Bears to the playoffs in 2005 in his third year as head coach.
Russell Lucas of Rotan, a graduate of Merkel High School and Abilene Christian University who just completed his second year as head coach of the Yellowhammers.
SOUTH
Head Coach Brent Brevard of Ballinger, who in 2005 completed his first year as head coach of his alma mater. Previously, he served as an assistant for 11 years to Randy Allen at both Abilene Cooper and Highland Park high schools.
Charlie McMath of Miles, who has been head coach at Miles for two years and has been involved in FCA for the past 23 years.
Tim Reid of San Angelo Lake View, who completed his first year as head coach for the Chiefs in 2005. Reid played football for coach Gordon Wood of Brownwood and Grant Teaff at Baylor University and has several years of coaching experience in the college ranks at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Navarro College and Angelo State.
Ron Young of San Angelo Grape Creek, a 30-year veteran of coaching who completed his first year as the Eagles head coach in 2005.
Sean Leamon of Junction, who took over as head coach and athletic director in 2004 and was named District 2-2A Co-Coach of the Year in 05.
